You know where your writing is going, but with the demands of everyday life, you just can’t find time to write. Here is your chance. Five days to put words on the page, to learn new writing skills, or simply to think, plan, and let the ideas untangle themselves in your head. You work on your project at your own pace.  Every day is your own.


There is an optional workshop each morning and in the afternoons the tutor is on hand to talk to you one-to-one about your work.   In the evening everyone comes together for supper and conversation.

Reading As A Writer - Residential Weekend

For centuries, painters, musicians, dancers, sculptors, have studied the work of others to learn technique and for inspiration. So how do writers learn from other writers? What is it exactly that great writers do to make their work vivid and satisfying, when yours so often seems to just miss the mark?
In this weekend, we’ll study extracts from published novels, but there’ll be plenty of time for writing too; the aim is to develop your own work, to take it to another level and to experiment with techniques learned from reading. You’ll come away with fresh ideas for your own stories and practical ways to make your work shine.
This weekend is suitable for those with some experience; writers who have completed a few short stories or who might be working on a longer project.
